The Undropped
kit campaign

In a bespoke project, ASICS, Inclusive Sportswear and mental health charity Mind, conducted research to understand what would make girls feel more comfortable in PE.

And then made the kit.

Introducing a new PE kit concept to help stop girls dropping out of sport

Why? We wanted to know what a PE kit developed using the Inclusive Sportswear Charter would look like.

WE ENABLE PARTICIPATION, PERFORMANCE, ENJOYMENT & BELONGING
01
We commit to supporting individuals to wear sports kit that enables belonging in sport, whether that is sports kit to promote participation, support enjoyment or raise performance.

“A PE kit is the most underrated reason girls drop out of PE, but the good news is we can fix it and fast. By listening to girls and evolving kit to support their needs, we can lift this barrier.”

The details

Solution: Softer, darker, sweat-wicking fabrics keep girls comfortable and confident.
Problem: “We worry period leaks will show, and you can’t carry tampons anywhere.”
Solution: Dark-coloured materials with discreet pockets provide coverage and storage for sanitary products.
Problem: “Our kit is baggy and shapeless. It feels like it was made for boys.”
Solution: Biker shorts act as a versatile base layer, worn alone or paired with a detachable skirt or shorts for added choice.

FACT: changes to the UK's school PE Kit will have a major impact on girls dropping out

Nearly three-quarters of UK girls (70%) said they would be more likely to participate in school PE lessons
74% said they would enjoy PE more if their PE kit was more comfortable
